The simulated evaluation of remanence in MSR for degaussing situation

Di Zhang, Minxia Shi, Yuzheng Ma, Leran Zhang, Shuai Yuan

Key Laboratory of Ultra-Weak Magnetic Field Measurement Technology, Ministry of Education, School of Instrumenta-tion and Optoelectronic Engineering, Beihang University, Beijing 100191, China

The permalloy sheet, acting as the dominant shielding material, mainly determines static and low frequency shielding performance of magnetically shielded room (MSR). However, the lack of precise measurement and corresponding hysteresis model of shielding sheet around geomagnetic field would lead to the nonnegligible evaluation error for MSR performance. The demagnetization process brings the material to the anhysteretic state, which reduces the residual magnetic field inside MSR. Therefore, this paper proposes an estimation technique for the remanence that considers the nonlinear magnetic characteristics of the permalloy sheet, evaluated using a single sheet tester (SST) under degaussing situation.

The charged suspended-particle around HVDC lines will affect the ion current density and ion flow field, which are important to the design. In this paper, the stochastic-distribution model of the suspended-particle charge is proposed, which is fully considered during the calculation of ion flow field based on upstream finite element method. After the validity of the proposed model is verified by experiment results, the ion flow field under ±800kV HVDC lines in the polluted environment is analyzed. Finally, statistical results such as maximum, minimum, average and percentile level of electric field are obtained. The research is helpful to design and construct HVDC lines.

A computational method based on Ampere's law and mutual inductance is proposed to calculate the relative permeability of an effective medium between two coupled coils for wireless power transfer with resonant metamaterials. The method's validity is confirmed through comparisons with experimental results obtained using printed coils operating in the MHz range. Results align with full-wave electromagnetic simulation, offering a speedup of nearly 1760 times. This efficiency makes the method useful for optimizing system design, facilitating faster iterations, and providing deeper insights into the role of metamaterials in enhancing coupling and overall system performance.

Single equivalent electrical circuit representation of electro-quasistatic problems using CLN method

Wei Chen1, Stéphane Clénet1, Thomas Henneron2

1Arts et Métiers Science and Technology, France; 2University of Lille, France

The Cauer Ladder Networks (CLN) method has been already applied to reduce a Finite Element (FE) model of an electroquasistatic problem. The obtained reduced model is based on two equivalent electrical circuits. In this communication, we modify the FE model in order to obtain a reduced model based on only one equivalent electrical circuit when applying the CLN method. The proposed approach is applied on a bushing of a high voltage transformer.

Investigation of Function of Current Vector Potential T in Edge FEM with Magnetic Vector Potential A and the Convergence of ICCG

Wencheng Liu1, Lin Li1, Jia'an Sun2

1North China Electric Power University, China, People's Republic of; 2China Electric Power Research Institute, China, People's Republic of

In the edge element model for solving eddy current fields, the continuity of the current density is maintained by introducing the current vector potential T as an intermediate variable, which enhances the convergence of the ICCG method. In this paper, numerical comparisons reveal that the curl of T does not strictly correspond to the current density J, which contradicts the theoretical definition of T. To address this, the equivalence is studied between the numerical solution of the current vector potential T and its definition. By introducing the electric scalar potential u, the underlying cause of the discrepancy between the curl of T and the current density J is thoroughly analyzed. Furthermore, the role of the electric scalar potential u in ensuring the current density continuity and its impact on the ICCG solution process are examined, along with its effect on the field distribution. The validity of the numerical method is confirmed by means of the TEAM 21b benchmark model.

This paper presents dual finite element formulations for extraction of magnetic circuit (MC) parameter in electromagnetic devices. Similar with electric circuit (EC), lumped parameters in MC namely magnetic-resistance and “magnetic-inductance”can be extracted by dual formulations using scalar and vector potential variables. The dual formulations used in MC parameter extraction also shows the properties in complementary bounds. By introducing a magnetic port, we show the formulations to consider the case when the topology of both permeability domain and conductivity domain is nontrivial.

Virtual Current Source Method for Analyzing Flux Density of Shunt Units under Bucking and Boosting Modes

Hanxue Hao, Fan Yang, Cheng Chi

State Key Laboratory of Power Transmission Equipment and System Security and New Technology, 400044 Chongqing, China

In phase shifting transformers, power flow is regulated by adjusting the tap position, which also alters the phasor angles of the two excitations in the series unit. However, limited research has been conducted on the impact of two excitations phase angle on the magnetic field of the series unit. In fact, series units are particularly susceptible to operational hazards, especially saturation and thermal issues. In this paper, a virtual current source is put forward to simulate the tap position by changing current angle, and the effect of phasor difference of two excitation on magnetic field of series unit is studied. To demonstrate the efficacy of this approach, a series unit model is constructed and the magnetic field characteristics are analyzed under both bucking and boosting modes.

Analytical Modeling of High-Temperature Superconducting Single-Sided Linear Induction Motors for Rail Transportation Applications

wei qin, yujie lu, duochang zou

Beijing Jiaotong university, China, People's Republic of

In this paper, an improved analytical model is presented for calculating the performance of a single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM) whose primary windings are made of high-temperature superconductors (HTS). The model is based on an accurate subdomain approach for predicting the magnetic field and structural parameters affecting the performance of the HTS SLIM with semi-closed slots. It considers the finite length of the primary iron core and the electromagnetic characteristics of the superconductor. Compared to conventional analytical models, the proposed model significantly improves accuracy by addressing the constraints related to the physical and mechanical properties of the HTS tape. Finally, finite element analysis (FEA) is employed to validate the proposed model, and the results are compared with experimental data from the HTS SLIM prototype.

Analysis and Design of Hybrid Excitation Axial-Flux Electrodynamic Wheels for Maglev Transportation

wei qin, duochang zou, yujie lu

Beijing Jiaotong university, China, People's Republic of

In this paper, a new Hybrid Excited Axial Electrodynamic Wheel (HEAEDW) for Electrodynamic Suspension (EDS) maglev systems is proposed and investigated. The HEAEDW simultaneously generates both propulsion and levitation forces through a moving magnetic rotor above a conductive guideway. This hybrid excitation machine not only enables active control of the thrust force but also reduces the risk of permanent magnet (PM) demagnetization, improving system reliability. The field distribution and forces generated by the HEAEDW are analyzed using both analytical methods and the finite element method (FEM). Key parameters influencing performance are investigated and adjusted to optimize machine operation. A prototype of the HEAEDW is developed, and experimental results are presented to validate the predicted outcomes. The results demonstrate that the proposed machine can generate an equivalent levitation force to basic axial electrodynamic wheels (EDWs) while providing additional thrust and controllability.

Variational Autoencoder Model Order Reduction for Electric Machines Modeling

Michael Müller, David Pánek, Pavel Karban

University of West Bohemia, Czech Republic

Modeling of electric machines is computationally intensive, especially for dynamic behavior, inverse problems, sensitivity analyses, and optimization tasks. Traditional order reduction techniques excel in linear cases, but nonlinear scenarios present greater challenges. This study explores the integration of variational autoencoders (VAEs) with finite element method (FEM) solvers to create reduced-order models for nonlinear problems. A switched reluctance motor is used as a test case, where VAEs trained on minimal snapshots predict machine behavior with high accuracy. Results demonstrate the efficacy of VAEs for data reconstruction and parameter sensitivity analysis, despite complexities in latent space optimization. These findings pave the way for efficient modeling and calibration in electric machine design.

This paper focuses on constructing and analyzing an improved composite circuit for wireless power transmission with high misalignment tolerance. A method is proposed to simplify the circuit by incorporating a polygonal equivalent circuit, and the stray capacitance is calculated analytically. By studying the impact of stray capacitance on transmission performance using the simplified circuit, the simulation efficiency is enhanced, enabling the efficient determination of the compensation circuit and its effectiveness.
